Session Two - The Haunted Ship

[2023/04/21 16:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: A 7 - Leesha manages to stay afloat, spluttering in the salty water. It's murky, and probably with good reason... cities often empty sewers into the sea. A few sailors who were watching come to the edge of the dock and look down at the splashing and spluttering.
[2023/04/21 16:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: Meanwhile, the ship creaks, despite the lack of wind. It's hard to say, but there seems to be an air of smug amusement. Now what?
[2023/04/21 16:16] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is going to use her time afloat to start swimming towards the anchor... slowly
[2023/04/21 16:16] Sonja Bikergrrl: Another strength check :) Everyone else?
[2023/04/21 16:17] Ingelin: calien throws a rope to Leesha

[2023/04/21 16:18] Ingelin: one usually used to steer the ship, hanging on the fender

[2023/04/21 16:19] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I'll pull Leesha up, bard, sooth the beast!" She moves to start trying to throw the rope to Leesha and/or try to haul her back up.
[2023/04/21 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: oh boy
[2023/04/21 16:19] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Given Debben is a noodle-armed illusionist, this might be ambitious
[2023/04/21 16:19] Sonja Bikergrrl: Well, two, three things happen at once
[2023/04/21 16:22] Alicia Frakture: If the rope is there Leesha is going to pull herself up instead of aim for the anchor
[2023/04/21 16:22] Sonja Bikergrrl: First, Megan is on the ball and sees the two going for the ropes - she grabs your collars and shouts "WHOA! What you doing? Those ropes just tossed Leesha overboard, better stay clear of them!" Second, Leesha sinks like a stone. In the murkiness of the water, you can see the dark bulk of the ship overhead, and fronds of seaweed below... and what look like two corpses, long dead, with the tops of their skulls missing... you don't get long to dwell on this because two sailors finally pluck up courage and dive in and haul Leesha up to the surface.

[2023/04/21 16:25] Ingelin: if i am right, we were on the ship to spot the ghost and try to do something to block him
[2023/04/21 16:26] Sonja Bikergrrl: you're on the ship, certainly; with Megan holding you back from getting too close to the coils of rope.
[2023/04/21 16:26] Alicia Frakture: With the help of the sailors Leesha heads for dry land
[2023/04/21 16:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: Debben, Cailen, any ideas?
[2023/04/21 16:27] Ingelin: Caliens ask Debben to help her again to scope the ghost and try to block it with the sound
[2023/04/21 16:27] Sonja Bikergrrl: and, Debben?
[2023/04/21 16:28] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Right, we want to figure out exactly who or what is haunting the ship." She frowns, looking around for a way below decks or into the captains office.
[2023/04/21 16:29] Ingelin: Calien mumbles: it was not what i was asking, but it will be achieve the same effect
[2023/04/21 16:29] Ingelin: calein follows debben down
[2023/04/21 16:29] Sonja Bikergrrl: There's two large hatches that lead below, probably for loading cargo and accessing crew quarters. At the back, under the raised deck, would be the captains' quarters. Cailen can play some music while Leesha is hauled up; Megan is staying dead centre of the deck, well away from the ropes.
[2023/04/21 16:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: Are you both going below decks?
[2023/04/21 16:31] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Let's try the captains' office first."
[2023/04/21 16:31] Ingelin: i had to play very near the ghost, the other time it was a fault because too far from it, so i am going below dech too
[2023/04/21 16:31] Alicia Frakture: Once Leesha is back on the ship she stands long enough to drain water.
[2023/04/21 16:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: While Leesha is finally hauled out of the water, Megan follows as Cailen and Debben head to the officers' quarters - Megan muttering "this isn't a very good idea!" You can see two smaller rooms for junior officers - a bed, some furniture, a chest in each room
[2023/04/21 16:33] Ingelin: Calien plays some music to flush out the ghost
[2023/04/21 16:33] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I'm happy to hear better ideas," she answers back, inspecting the furniture and the chests
[2023/04/21 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: Megan huffs. "It's a haunted ship! We're attacked while ON it, what do you think will happen when we're IN it? At least Leesha got off the ship fast." Cailen plays some music... doesn't appear to be any result to that. Leesha, I take it you come back on board the ship? Meanwhile, Debben looks over some rather mundane, albeit new, furniture.
[2023/04/21 16:37] Alicia Frakture: Yeah Leesha comes back on board grabbing an oil Lantern on the way... She is a bit nettled
[2023/04/21 16:37] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "if we're -inside- the ship, it can't throw us overboard. We're too big to fit through the portholes."

[2023/04/21 16:39] Ingelin: Calien puts away her mandolin saying: it was better if i learned to fight instead of to play this useless music music"

[2023/04/21 16:42] Sonja Bikergrrl: While Leesha is coming back aboard, a chest in the room hurtles towards Debben. It hits rather hard, knocking her aside and injuring her. While putting away your mandolin, Cailen hears some wails and cries, but that's all the sense she can make out of it.

[2023/04/21 16:43] Ingelin: Calien follows the origine of the sounds
[2023/04/21 16:43] Ingelin: walk toward the point she feels is the origine
[2023/04/21 16:44] Sonja Bikergrrl: That'll be below decks, forward part of the ship.
[2023/04/21 16:44] Sonja Bikergrrl: Debben, Leesha?
[2023/04/21 16:45] Alicia Frakture: Once on the ship Leesha looks at the rope."Make a move and I will torch this like a pipe." as she heads for any opening below

[2023/04/21 16:47] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben is looking through the desks and other containers for possible clues to what this ghost is

[2023/04/21 16:48] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben is knocked backwards by the thing, groaning. "Ow. Increasingly not enjoying this." She inspects the chest that was thrown to see if it's come open or not.
[2023/04/21 16:49] Sonja Bikergrrl: alright... d20s all round - Cailen gets to roll 2 d20s, first one is a dexterity check (And everyone makes a check for wisdom.)

[2023/04/21 16:51] Sonja Bikergrrl: As Ingelin heads forward, she passes through the hold; a barrel rolls over and rolls at her, -narrowly- missing her. It slams into the bulkhead, instead
[2023/04/21 16:52] Sonja Bikergrrl: For once the dice gods smile on you! Cailen is uninjured and Leesha and Debben get a sneaky suspicion that something isn't right...
[2023/04/21 16:53] Sonja Bikergrrl: The thing that isn't right: the attacks seem -very- localized, and targetted at one at a time.
[2023/04/21 16:53] Ingelin: ((it's a male ghost, no multitasking as females))

[2023/04/21 16:55] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Developing a sudden suspicion, she invokes her magical detecting senses,
[Read Magic, if that works for the open air castings] and moves to work her way through the document storage of more important officers here.

[2023/04/21 16:56] Alicia Frakture: Leesha is still moving to the stairs watching the rope Lantern held high threateningly
[2023/04/21 16:56] Ingelin: Calien goes on searching for the voices

[2023/04/21 16:57] Sonja Bikergrrl: roll the d10 twice, Ingelin - sanity check coming up!
[2023/04/21 17:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: Ingelin makes her way through the hold without further event. Megan isn't entirely sure what to do - help Debben or restrain the pyromaniac Leesha. The rope coils do nothing, and Debben finds no magic writing or even magic anything. Meanwhile, in the crew quarters... Cailen steps in, and gets a nasty fright as a female figure (See? You were right about that!) just rises up out of the decking and just -screams- loudly in Cailens' face!
